Communication

We are happy to hear that the pandemic situation is improving; therefore – based on the opinion of epidemic experts, the high number of vaccinated people and the easing of earlier restrictions enacted due to the COVID-19 pandemic – taking into account the special characteristics of our Church, we modify our earlier measures and take the following steps starting from 4 July 2021:

  1. It is no longer obligatory to wear a mask in closed spaces; however, the still effective pandemic restrictions must be observed.
  2. The liturgical restriction enacted solely due to the pandemic are no longer obligatory either, unless the competent diocesan bishop decides otherwise.
  3. We shall still act in a responsible and careful manner, taking into account current state epidemic provisions with special attention to the use of disinfectants. We still recommend using hand sanitizers during Communion.

According to Canon 838 of the Code of Canon Law, the diocesan bishops and others made equivalent to them, may enact different measures.

This disposition concerns the Latin rite dioceses of Hungary.

We would like to thank everyone again for their hard work in this extraordinary situation. We shall keep praying and continue to pay special attention to each other.
