András Veres, bishop of Győr re-elected as president of HCBC

The five-year-long term of the Hungarian Catholic Bishops’ Conference’s senior officials has expired; therefore, the assignments were renewed on the regular autumn meeting of the Conference.

The members of the conference elected Bishop András Veres as president of the organization on 2 September. The duration of the assignment is another five years.

The organization re-elected György Udvardy, Archbishop of Veszprém as deputy president. The Permanent Council will also include Cardinal Péter Erdő, Archbishop of Esztergom-Budapest and Primate of Hungary and János Székely, bishop of Szombathely.

Mgr. Tamás Tóth, elected as the General Secretary of the Conference in 2018, retained his assignment.
