The Hungarian Catholic Bishops’ Conference sends aid to Croatia

The Hungarian Catholic Bishops’ Conference (HCBC) decided to provide an urgent aid of HUF 10 million for the Diocese of Sisak in Croatia to support reconstruction works after a natural disaster caused severe damages in the area.

Following the events in March, on 29 December, Tuesday another strong earthquake shook Petrinja, southeast of Zagreb, Croatia. The earthquake damaged several buildings and churches, while a number of houses became uninhabitable. The natural disaster killed several people.

The official charity organization of HCBC, Caritas Hungary feels obliged to provide immediate relief; therefore, it announces a donation campaign through the Caritas of the Diocese of Szombathely and acquires essential equipment and food worth an additional HUF 1.6 million, which will be sent to the families in need through the Caritas of Sisak.

The Bishops’ Conference asks the members of the Church to keep praying for their disaster-stricken brothers and sisters.
